The 1st Student Workshop on Wireless Sensor Networks will take place at the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications of the University of Athens. The address is as follows:

The Department of Informatics and Telecommunications belongs to the School of Sciences of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. It was officially founded in 1989, however, it started functioning in 1986, further to a decision taken by the Senate, as an "Interdisciplinary Study Programme in the Computer Sciences and Communications" between the Faculties of Physics and Mathematics. Today the Department has 41 faculty members: 14 Professors, 14 Associate Professors, 11 Assistant Professors and 2 Lecturers.

From Eleftherios Venizelos airport to the center of Athens

You can use the following two bus lines from the airport bus terminal (they operate in 24h basis, click here for time tables):

  • E94: Leads to the Ethniki Amina metro station. From there the fastest way to the Dept. of Informatics and Telecommunications is by taking a taxi (should take less than 10 minutes under normal traffic).
  • E96: Leads to the Sydagma Square right at the center of Athens. See below for more information how to reach the university campus from there.

From the center of Athens to the Dept. of Informatics and Telecommunications

You can use bus lines 224 and 250, 1 (Kaissariani municipal transport,small red bus) or taxi

  • From Omonia Square: Exiting the metro cross Patision Avenue and head for Kanigos Square. From the bus stop on Kanigos Square (on the side of Acadimias Avenue) take the bus line 224. Exit the bus at the 9th bus stop of Kesariani. Cross Ethnikis Antistaseos Avenue and enter the University Campus (see the campus map).
  • From Sydagma Square: Exiting the metro walk up Vasilisis Sofias Avenue until you reach the bus stops (the bus stops are adjucent to the side entrance of the Parliament building). Take the bus line 224. Exit the bus at the 9th bus stop of Kesariani. Cross Ethnikis Antistaseos Avenue and enter the university campus (see (1) in map).
  • From Kaissariani to Evangelismos:The bus line 1 (Kaissariani municipal transport,small red bus)
  • By taxi from the center of Athens: The campus is less than 10 minutes away from Sydagma Square and about 20 minutes away from Omonoia Square.

NOTE: The bus line 250 is not available on weekend
