- Research in algorithmic and complexity issues of Game Theory.Research in parallel algorithms, complexity of parallel computation, probabilistic algorithms and algorithms with random inputs, concurrency control in databases, synchronization in distributed systems, random graphs, performance analysis of computer systems , telematics applications, efficient approximations to hard problems.
- Assistant Professor in the Courant Inst. of Math. Sciences, New York University, from September 1982 up to 1987 , tenure track position. Paul Spirakis passed successfully the 3rd year tenure review process.
